MyBook - No process is on the other end of the pipe

Post by darkwiz »

After adding a MyBook to a 2008 domain the error "No process is on the other end of the pipe" is shown when you try to browse the drive.

The solution is posted in this excellent article http://inore.in/2012/08/27/no-process-i ... -the-pipe/

Use ADSIEDIT and change the values below to get it going

Attribute Name: dNSHostName, Attribute Value = DeviceName.DomainName (NAS01.CONTOSO.COM)

Attribute Name: servicePrincipalName, Attribute Value = HOST/DeviceName; HOST/DeviceName.DomainName (HOST/NAS01;HOST/NAS01.CONTOSO.COM)

A permanent solution is to log in to the MyBook using SSH and adding the fqdn in the /etc/hosts file.
Default SSH access is achieved with username root and password welc0me.
pain is nothing a downpour won't erase
